The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club is currently the only grappling club on campus. Jiu Jitsu, literally translating to the “gentle art” is a style of grappling in which two opponents compete to outwit each other, either by scoring the most points or submitting the other opponent. Regardless of your current skill level, joining the jiu jitsu club can benefit anyone. If you’re experienced in this sport, your wits are sure to be tested by some of our more skilled members, you will also be allowed to instruct certain practices, as we value everyone’s knowledge and what they can bring to the table. If you’ve never heard of jiu jitsu, this is the perfect place to start and develop your skills. Many of our members are involved in other clubs, organizations, and sports that offer great networking opportunities or potential to further your skills. Some of these other clubs include La Crosse, Rugby, other jiu jitsu clubs, judo, wrestling, mixed martial arts, and many more! We typically meet twice a week throughout the entire semester and compete in a few competitions as well. Our club provides an energetic, competitive environment that is low-stress and friendly to all interested. Our goals as an organization are to teach everyone the basics of jiu jitsu while maintaining a fun, safe, and stress free atmosphere. If you’re looking to learn a new skill and push yourself physically while having a great time, and making new friends the UWRF Jiu Jitsu Club is the place for you! All newcomers are welcome, just contact one of our officers and they will gladly point you in the right direction, thank you for visiting our website and have a great day!
